OMG! Gourmet Grill – Trent Vale

OMG! Gourmet Grill – Trent Vale

Thank OMG! That the days of the standard take-away fare are over. This something we have all been waiting for – a take-away worth its salt. Especially the Cajun salt. On the sweet potato fries.

Venue:

Over in Trent Vale (before the Trentham roundabout) you will find it just set back from the road. Clean white on the outside and decked out with wood and chrome on the inside. There is a small amount of seating available but this is most definitely one to enjoy with your feet up at home (you will need the lie down afterwards).

Menu:

The menu alone is enough to get you salivating with its small but perfectly succulent selection of sides, hot dogs and veggies options too. For the meat lover you can find things like real German Kurz & Lang frankfurter on a brioche roll and Falafel & spinach burger topped with mint sour cream for an imaginative vegetarian option. But the real stars of the show are the burgers. Each burger is 150g of 100% juicy Scottish beef (check out the Triple B if you think you can handle three of them!) that come topped with a variety of delectable homemade sauces. The Californication burger is a personal favourite, which comes with unusual but delicious grilled pineapple-jalapeño & sweet chilli salsa, there is also the option to get creative and choose your own mix of toppings and sauces.

Not to be missed:

The Californication burger.

The Jamaican fries.

Good for:

Good food, Nights in, Lazy weekends, Something different.

Prices:

The burgers and hot dogs start from a very reasonable £4.99

Wed-Thurs: 16:00 – 21:00

Toto Bar – Newcastle-under-Lyme

Toto Bar – Newcastle-under-Lyme
Venue:
Just outside of the potteries you can find Toto Bar. It is a far cry from Newcastle-under-Lyme’s former YMCA charity shop. With an amazing renovation job it is now a relaxed and sophisticated bar that would not be out of place in somewhere like Manchester’s Northern Quarter. It caters for the growing trend in nights out where consumers want quality drinks in a quality establishment. It boasts blissful drinks, plenty of snug areas for a romantic evening, larger areas for groups and there is table service to boot. You could easily forget where you are and what time of day it is (although that could also have something to do with the cocktails). This is a great place to kick off your night out or to enjoy the bustling atmosphere late into the evening. Toto is a welcome new addition to the growing bar scene in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Menu:
These guys know their stuff and are continually raising the bar (pun intended!) with new imaginative cocktails as well as their take on some classics. All made with premium spirits and some serious know-how.
“Our best-selling cocktail is our Zombie. This cocktail has seen something of a resurgence recently so most bars now have a version on the menu – ours is very popular. Our Dirk Diggler is also very popular – it’s our version of a pornstar martini. We have a few signature drinks but our current favourite is new to the menu. It is house infused strawberry gin, homemade balsamic and lavender syrup, plum sake, house strawberry & pepper shrub, lemon and plum bitters. It’s an unusual drink but very nice.” – Toto Bar
Small plates such as root vegetable crisps with spiced yoghurt, olives, meat and cheese boards and pizzas can also be found on the menu.
